May: Trails Month is a partnership between public and private organizations in the Columbia-Pacific Region. There will be guided hikes offered in multiple locations throughout the month. May 2-3: Loyalty Days is an annual celebration of patriotism in Long Beach Washington. Visit with living historians at Fort Columbia State Park as they portray World War II-era troops stationed at the coastal artillery fort. Enjoy the exhibits at the interpretive center then take a historic walking tour through the fort’s batteries and grounds.
May 16: North Head anniversary open house, climb the spiral staircase to the top of the North Head Lighthouse and tour the lighthouse keepers residence on this scenic headland at Cape Disappointment State Park.
June 13: Waikiki Beach Concert Series presents the surfing sounds of “Mars Needs Women.” 2 p.m. at the Waikiki Beach Amphitheater at Cape Disappointment State Park.
June 20: Waikiki Beach Concert Series presents the yodeler, Larry Wilder and his son Nolon Bronson.” 2 p.m. at the Waikiki Beach Amphitheater at Cape Disappointment State Park.
July 11: Waikiki Beach Concert Series presents the female bluegrass trio, “Chickweed.” 2 p.m. at the Waikiki Beach Amphitheater at Cape Disappointment State Park.
July 18-19: Join members of the Pacific Northwest Living Historians as they portray members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition soon after arriving at the Pacific Ocean. “Clark’s Campsite” is an annual event held at the Waikiki Beach day use area of Cape Disappointment State Park.
July 25: Waikiki Beach Concert Series presents the old timey music of “Whiskey Puppy.” 2 p.m. at the Waikiki Beach Amphitheater at Cape Disappointment State Park.
August 8: Waikiki Beach Concert Series presents the folk rock of “Southern Skies.” 2 p.m. at the Waikiki Beach Amphitheater at Cape Disappointment State Park.
August 22: Waikiki Beach Concert Series presents the aloha spirit of “Na Mele ‘O Hawaii.” 2 p.m. at the Waikiki Beach Amphitheater at Cape Disappointment State Park.
October 24: Graveyard of the Pacific Weekend returns with a Sea Shanty Camp at Fort Columbia State Park and presentations of maritime related programs at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center at Cape Disappointment State Park.
November 7- 8: “Ocian In View”, a lecture series presented by the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum, the Pacific County Friends of Lewis and Clark, the Friends of the Columbia River Gateway and Washington State Parks.
