The Longest Consecutively Running Loyalty Celebration in the Nation Initiated in 1950 by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyalty Day is an historically rich celebration of patriotism Click for the complete schedule of 2009's Loyalty Weekend events. Ride a bike, pull a wagon, build a float, dress in a costume. Saturday, May 8, 2010 This annual Loyalty Days Children's Parade winds through Ilwaco's downtown. The parade begins at noon with lineup and registration beginning around 11 am. ALL CHILDREN are welcome to participate and may register on Parade Day. Everyone is invited to cheer on the kidsand then enjoy the first Saturday Market of the season at the Port of Ilwaco Parade pre-registration forms are available at any Peninsula Pharmacy, Entertainment/Vendors/Food Awards Ceremony 1:00 pm at the Port Pavillion "Blessing of the Fleet" - Boats depart at 1:30 pm Join us for a free boat ride on a gaily decorated boat. The parade of boats head to the mouth of the Columbia River for this annual ceremonial blessing. A memorial wreath is dropped by U.S. Coast Guard helicopter.
