Kite Festival sets world’s record for most Con-Eddy’s at 1,798

Kite fliers at the Washington State International Kite Festival (WSIKF) set a world’s record for most Conover Eddy kites in the air at the same time with 1,798 kites flying Monday on the soft sands to the west of Long Beach.

In 1989 Margaret Greger, a regular attendee, participant and teacher at the WSIKF had the vision of seeing a world’s record number of Con-Eddy kites in the air simultaneously and Aug. 17, the first day of the week-long festival that vision became a reality. Making the accomplishment bitter-sweet was the fact that Margaret passed away last spring, so her husband Greg, of Richland, made a concerted effort to achieve her vision.   [more]
