Wild Mushroom Festivallong beach wa
The annual Wild Mushroom Festival kicks off mid-October and runs through the end of the month. As part of the festival, participating restaurants, inns and bed and breakfast establishments will offer daily wild mushroom specials. Wild mushroom workshops, field excursions and prix-fixe dinners will also be offered.

Wild Mushroom Winemaker Dinner
Walla Walla's Three River's Winery will match great wines with Michael & Alex's creations for a four-course meal starring fresh local mushrooms. Entree selections include:

Prosciutto Wrapped Pan Seared Petrale Sole on Wild Rice Morel Mushroom Salad topped with Morel Mushroom and Truffle Cream Sauce

Braised Breast of Pheasant on Caramelized Gnocchi surrounded by Roasted Chanterelle Mushroom Sweet Corn Ragout topped with Apple Cider Balsamic Glaze

Char Grilled 6 oz Filet Mignon
On Pecorino Romano Frico filled wih Yukon Gold Potato and Porcini Mushrooms topped with Cabernet Sauvignon Porcini Mushroom Demi Glace

Boreas Bed and Breakfast Inn's 4th Annual 2007 Wild Mushroom Celebration will be on the weekend of October 12th and 13th. The cost is $530.00 per couple including taxes, and restaurant gratuity. This special Wild Mushroom Celebration package includes 2 nights at Boreas with two three-course 9:30 a.m. brunches as well as a very special (for Boreas guests weekend guests only) three-course Walla Walla Wine and Wild Mushroom Dinner at The Port Bistro on the Port of Ilwaco on Saturday night, the 13th. Sunday morning festivities will top off the weekend with Boreas' annual "Wild Mushroom Celebration Breakfast with Veronica" (for Boreas Inn Celebration guests only) with wild mushroom expert Veronica Williams as well as a Wild Mushroom informal discussion with Veronica at 11:00 a.m. that is open to the public on Sunday, the 14th. Stay a third night at Boreas at a discounted rate of $140 plus tax!

The Port Bistro

October 15-31, 2007
In addition to the dinner for Boreas guests on October 13th, The Port Bistro will be offering five course chef's tasting menu featuring wild mushrooms for $55. Matched wines will also be available by the glass. We will offer this for the duration of the wild mushroom festival. A three course lunch tasting menu will be offered for $30.

Cooking classes with Jeff McMahon, including tips on picking wild mushrooms, cleaning and storing them. A celebrated local forager is scheduled to share stories and information and Jimella will be doing a recipe.

$40, beginning with a glass of wine and, after the class is over, an 'ample sample' of what has been created.

China Beach Retreat Wild Mushroom Italian feast with Chef Maurizio Paparo of the Excelsior Inn and Ristorante Italiano in Eugene, Oregon is now scheduled for Tuesday, October 30th at China Beach Retreat. Feasting begins at 6:30. Here’s a menu teaser:
  • Polenta con Funghi
  • Pasta Farcita (Pasta filled with wild mushrooms and served with a roasted zucchini sauce topped with pecorino cheese)
  • Quail stuffed with wild mushrooms and sausage served with a sage cream sauce
