With Blues & Seafood on August 13 and 14, together they make for a great weekend of music and food on the Long Beach Peninsula
LONG BEACH PENINSULA, Wash. – July 2010 – Expect two days of great performances, venues, food and fans on the Long Beach Peninsula, August 13 through 15, 2010, with Ilwaco’s Blues & Seafood followed by Jazz and Oysters in Oysterville.
Blues & Seafood (http://bluesandseafood.com/schedule/) has expanded to two days of entertainment, food and fun at the Ilwaco marina. Starting with All Star Jam on Friday, August 13, and followed by Blues & Seafood on Saturday, August 14, the event will feature The Lloyd Jones Struggle, The Strange Tones, The Swing Cats, The Robbie Laws Band, and Buoy 10. Friday tickets are $10; Saturday tickets are $20.
Jazz and Oysters (http://watermusicfestival.com/jazz-and-oysters/) celebrates is 25th year at the Oysterville Schoolhouse on August 15 with Merlot Tide and Pearl Django, plus oysters, fruit and cheese plates, desserts, libations, and more. All-day lawn seating (exclusive of food) is $15.
Merlot Tide brings together area musicians Tom Trudell on piano, Lew Chapman on trombone and trumpet, Randy Brown on bass, and Rick Pointer on drums to perform classic jazz favorites and original compositions.
Pearl Django is one of America’s most respected and busiest Hot Club-style groups. Strongly influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt, Pearl Django’s repertoire also includes many original compositions. Their music reaches out across the divides of taste to a wide variety of audiences – guitar enthusiasts, lovers of string music, ‘world music’ fans drawn to French and Gypsy accents, plus jazz buffs, and aficionados of new swing.
A discounted two-day pass for those wishing to attend both Blues & Seafood (Saturday only) and Jazz and Oysters is available for $30 per person.
