The Water Music Festival Serenades The Long Beach Peninsula On October 19 Through 21, 2007 |
| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Carol Zahorsky OR Una Boyle LONG BEACH PENINSULA, Wash., September 27, 2007 The beaches, marshlands, riverbanks and wetlands of the Long Beach Peninsula will provide the aqueous setting for the upcoming Water Music Festival. This series of performances by gifted musicians will take place at venues stretching from Ilwaco to Oysterville, on October 19, 20 and 21, 2007.LONG BEACH PENINSULA, Wash. Celebrated pianist Alpin Hong will head up the line up with a concert on Friday, Oct. 19 at 8PM at Peninsula Baptist Church, Ocean Park. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for youth. Hong, who won first prize in the 2001 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, has been called a ‘modern day Pied Piper.’ The New York Times has lauded him for his “crystalline energy…clear and persuasive ideas…and remarkable breadth of coloration.” Having toured together for over 30 years, The Crystal Chamber Soloists will bring the combined talents of oboist Peter Christ, clarinetist Richard Gellman, violist Abigail Stoughton, flutist Tessa Brinckman, and pianist Cary Lewis to the Hilltop Auditorium in Ilwaco on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 8PM. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12.50 for youth. Their selections for the Water Music Festival will include the charming Suite for Oboe, Clarinet and Viola by Randall Thompson; the substantial Kegelstadt Trio by Mozart; and more. John Doan, a master of the rare twenty-string harp guitar, will share Celtic-influenced music on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 2PM, at the historic Oysterville Church. Advance tickets are limited to those purchasing Season Passes. Performing from their most recent creative collaboration Zambra, Willie & Lobo will offer their signature sound ‘gypsy boogaloo’ violin and flamenco guitar on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2PM at the Peninsula Baptist Church, Ocean Park. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for youth. Their emotionally packed compositions are touted as capturing rare musical freshness and authenticity. Harpist(and chef at the 42nd Street Café)Cheri Walker will give a free performance on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10AM at the Peninsula Church Center, Seaview. Advance sale tickets will be held at “Will Call” at the door of each performance venue. Tickets may also be purchased at the door; however, many of the performances are predicted to sell out in advance. A Season Pass includes tickets for John Doan and is $65 per adult and half that for students over age 12 with a valid student I.D. or for children under age 12 accompanied by an adult.
