Long beach has recently received a face lift with colorful storefronts and a new mural in Fish Alley downtown.
Fish alley was beginning to look a little faded and outdated. Ralph Moore, owner of the building on the north side of the Alley, contracted local artist Wendy Murry to give the wall a mural more representative of Long Beach. Murry designed a whimsical storefront for Fish Alley business Sirens’ Boutique which brought out the look and feel of the company’s branding, hinting what shoppers will find inside. She balanced out an awkward entry with a faux window, creating a charming storefront.
Keeping with her whimsical style, Murry designed a beach themed mural for the rest of the Alley wall. Features include a lighthouse, mermaid, sand castle, the Long Beach Arch, and Jake the Alligator Man, along with characters of her two children flying a kite. Visitors are pulled down the alley with an entrance of a sneaker wave, complete with an octopus and a spy-hopping whale.
Children of all ages enjoy SummerFest performances in Fish Alley from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year. In addition to Sirens’ Boutique, the Alley hosts Fish Alley Coffee and is passageway to BooBoo’s Miniature Golf. Entrance to Fish Alley is between Stormin’ Norman’s and Wind World Kites, on the west side of Pacific Hwy 103 in downtown Long Beach.

Beautiful work, Wendy!
I’ll be sharing this info with my friends. Thanks!
