Hi Chuck. Bear with me; I’m doing some research to answer your questions. Loosely speaking, it seems to have first appeared in the 1940s when local gals would skate on blocks of butter to get the pan ready for a town fry. The pan on display now is not the same implement as the original has long since rusted away and been rebuilt to the same specifications. –webmaster@funbeach.com
