The area of South Bend, Raymond and Tokeland is colloquially called North County. South Bend is less than an hour away from the Long Beach Peninsula, so day trips are an ideal way to experience life on Willapa Bay in northern Pacific County. This recommended itinerary can be conquered in a single day or strung out over a weekend, depending how quickly you meander. So, go beyond Lewis & Clark and adventure to “North County”.
Begin your journey where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Ilwaco. From here, explore singular state parks, outstanding beach resorts and communities along Washington’s southwest coastline. This auto tour also loops over to Vancouver, Beacon Rock, and the Columbia River Gorge. It was near here on November 7, 1805, that William Clark wrote in his journal:
“Great Joy in camp….we are in view of the Ocian, this great Pacific Octean which we have been So long anxious to See”
The Long Beach Peninsula hosts year-round events that offer something for everyone. Click the calendar to the left for an overview of the best of this year, or check out the Community Calendar which holds even more things to see and do.

We had the pleasure of meeting David Craft while he was working on his Eagle Scout project, a wonderful booklet for children of all ages visiting the Peninsula. David designed and developed the booklet, as well as created the activities found within. He worked with local artist Don Nisbett to create cover and interior illustrations AND raised funds to print the first run of 1000 copies for distribution by our office.
Guest Directory Filled with restaurant menus, a guide to local shopping and attractions, hotel information, TV & church guides, safety and tsunami information, the Guest Directory is a popular tool for visitors. You’ll find this useful binder of information in hotel rooms locally, along with most B&Bs and some vacation rental homes. You can also view a copy at the front desk of RV parks, ports, cities and, of course, here at the Vistors Bureau. Updated each spring.
