The Port of Ilwaco recently experienced an incident which shows the value of web cams when a boat owner, whose $400,000 boat was moored at the port, looked at the Fish Cam and discovered that his boat was missing. He called the Port office to see if the Port had moved he boat without telling him. Looking for clues, Port Manager Jim Neva re-ran the tapes from that night’s surveillance cameras. He was able to determine the time period when the boat disappeared and then began calling other area ports. The boat was found at the Astoria port within one hour of the time Jim began the search.
